A GROUP of 17 elderly residents of the AWWA Community Home were treated to a visit to Chinatown last Friday by some 40 OCBC staff volunteers.
And like many in the group, the visit to Chinatown brings back memories for Wong Kam Sian. The 96-year-old told volunteers that he used to live there as a young man, and that this is the only way he can stay in contact with his shrinking pool of childhood friends who live there. Many have moved out, while others have passed on, he said.
Other residents who are very familiar with Chinatown also brought the volunteers to their favourite dessert stores at Chinatown Complex.
