A tale of two (island) cookbooks
Island Life and Our Migrants’ Kitchen put the spotlight on more than just the Asian dishes found on three islands
TWO cookbooks were launched here late last year – one at a private members club, and the other at a community-cum-lifestyle hub.
Island Life: Recipes from Nikoi & Cempedak Islands, is a collection of favourite recipes from the two private islands while Our Migrants’ Kitchen showcases recipes and stories from migrants living on another island – Singapore.
You could say the two books have their origins in kitchens at opposite ends of the socio-economic spectrum. But besides featuring the wonderful, complex flavours of Asian cuisines, both deserve a place in your kitchen for reasons of their own.
