Catalyst for change
In today's IoT-driven world, cybernetics will be the way to go, says Guido Jouret, chief digital officer of industrial tech leader ABB.
GUIDO Jouret, chief digital officer (CDO) at ABB - the Swiss-Swedish engineering giant which specialises in robotics, power, heavy electrical equipment, and automation technology - is one of the lucky few who got to define his job role.
The Belgium-born Mr Jouret, who was previously chief technology officer (CTO) at Nokia Technologies, took up his present position - which ABB created for him - in October 2016. Even though the role was yet to be defined, it was clear that there was a mandate for change, he recalls. "Large successful companies that have been around a long time, over many decades, have been very good at sticking to their core business. However, they also occasionally need to adapt to change."
ABB was in need for a change and he was hired to show the way.
